The Foundation underwrites an Annual Teen Essay Contest conducted by the Mental Health Association of the North Shore. Now in its sixth year, the contest addresses the mental health needs of adolescents. The 2008 topic is “What It's Like, or Must Be Like, to Grow Up as a Female in the 21st century.” The essay contest was created by Sharon Weingarten, MSW, LSW, Member of the Professional Advisory Board of MHANS.

The topic of the 2007 Contest was "The Stress of Growing Up in the 21st Century: What It's Like Growing Up In My Family"
